Body 0551 is Goerg & Schneider's rich red stoneware — a warm, iron-rich clay that fires to a consistent light-to-dark terracotta red across the full firing range. Unlike most red clays that turn brown or grey at higher temperatures, 0551 holds its warm red tone all the way to 1220°C. The high chamotte content (40%) gives it excellent structural strength, making it well-suited for large sculptural work and hand building.
